I sometimes wonder what objects or gadgets around me might be used for something other than what they are intended for.
For example, tennis balls - they are great to place on the bottom of a cane or walker, they can be cut in half and used as bottle openers or for uneven tables - tennis balls. Ever throw a new tennis ball in a dryer? You should. Cut a slit and hide stuff inside a tennis ball, or use it to help organize wires and cables. Tennis ball in the water drainage for leaves, as a dog toy...tennis ball. Also, tennis is fun.
Getting Creative with Alexa
Sometimes, you must look at things and get creative - exactly how Speak2 started. It was easy to see Alexa as a great speaker for music, getting news, and turning lights on and off - all by talking to it. But my mom couldn’t send a text message because she couldn’t use a smartphone.
Healthcare workers and teams are extremely busy, and finding time to go to their desks and fill out forms hours later and after a ton of work is challenging. Here’s a crazy idea - what if they could tell Alexa what they’re doing? Instead of asking Alexa to play a song, why can’t Alexa take notes for them?
Alexa is more than an entertainment device. She’s a business tool. Using this tool as a new user interface for something like data entry became a mission, especially for people who work so hard and desperately need better tools.
